Surrounded by her family, Virginia Buelna Morales Holeman died Thursday, October 20, 2011 at the age of 71 after a courageous and lively twelve year battle with cancer. She was born December 16, 1939 to Lorenzo and Matilda Morales in Los Banos, CA. At a young age, Virginia and her nine brothers and sisters moved with their parents to Selma where she lived the majority of her life. She graduated from Selma High School in 1959 and continued her education at Heald College. She married Lloyd Holeman in 1964 and together they had three children. Virginia worked at several businesses during her career, including Allied Insurance, the Selma Senior Citizens Center, Sun-Maid, and most recently as a self employed floral designer. She was active member of the Selma Lioness Club and Comite de Beneficio Mexicano. Always wanting to live life to its fullest, and not willing to let her illness keep her home, she continued to travel and explore places such as Japan, China, Germany, Austria, Mexico, and Canada, while also taking in a Broadway Show in New York City, and scuba diving in Hawaii. But her favorite activity was entertaining and cooking for friends and family. Virginia had a very giving heart and would help anyone in need. Many have commented that she was like a second mom to them. Virginia is preceded in death by her brother Arthur, her parents Lorenzo and Matilda, and her husband Lloyd. Virginia is survived by her three children: Celeste Holeman, Daniel Holeman, both of Selma, and Russell Holeman and his wife Arlene of Turlock. She also is survived by ten grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Her family is comforted in knowing that she has been reunited in Heaven with her husband. Visitation and rosary recital were held on Tuesday, October 25, 2011 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Selma, California. A mass of Christian burial will be held on Wednesday, October 26th at 9am at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. Interment will follow to the Floral Memorial Park Cemetery, Selma, CA.
